***URGENT IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING ***

Customers deploying custom images, please read below:

The Bluetooth module that shipped in the hp Compaq Business Notebook nc4000 contain an earlier version of firmware which will result in some compatibility issues if used in conjunction with software updates. The firmware and software revisions must match in order for the system to continue to function correctly.Your notebook shipped with firmware revision 802/1.0 and software revision 1.4.1.3 SP2.The combination of firmware/software must be coupled in order to maintain stable functionality. If you update the version of your Bluetooth software you must also update your firmware.

Bluetooth enabled versions of the hp compaq nc4000 which contain the old 802/1.0 firmware will continue to ship until mid to late January 2004.If Softpaq SP25720 is used to update the software in a custom image to version 1.4.2.19 SP4, then each Bluetooth-enabled nc4000 that the custom image is deployed on is required to have its Bluetooth firmware updated to version 802/1.1.

Softpaq SP25720 contains both firmware and software updates. When run on a system, it will auto-detect the current versions and update the firmware and software appropriately.

    Identifying the Bluetooth Firmware Revision:

To verify the firmware version on your hp compaq nc4000, you must first install and configure the Bluetooth software per the instructions in the “Getting Started Guide” located on the Bluetooth Documentation CD that came with your system and then perform the following steps:

    1. Right click the BTTray Icon located in the System Tray.
    2. Select Advanced Configuration > Hardware and view the firmware revision under Device Properties.
    3. Select OK to close the window.

    Identifying the Bluetooth Software Revision:

To verify the software version on your hp compaq nc4000, you must first install and configure the Bluetooth software per the instructions in the “Getting Started Guide” located on the Bluetooth Documentation CD that came with your system and
    then perform the following steps:

    1. Right click the BTTray Icon located in the System Tray.
    2. Select Explore My Bluetooth Places.
    3. Select Help > About My Bluetooth Places and view the software version and Service Pack number.

Note: The software version is also viewable under the Advanced Configuration window, however, it does not display the Service Pack number.

Symptoms That Could Result If the Firmware and Software Do Not
Match: If the firmware and software revisions do not match as outlined above, the system may not go into Suspend and may experience random system lock-ups.

    Notes

This SoftPaq contains updates to both the firmware and software that supports the Bluetooth by hp in the notebook models listed below.

IMPORTANT: The firmware and software revisions must match in order for the system to continue to function correctly. When this SoftPaq is run on a supported notebook, it will auto-detect the current versions of firmware and software and update the firmware and software appropriately. If the firmware and software revisions do not match, the system may not go into Suspend and may experience random system lock-ups. Please refer to the detailed note in the HOW TO USE section below about deploying custom images.
    Installation

    HOW TO USE:

    1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

  • Version: 1.20.1 A
    Public date: September 15, 2004
    HP nc4000 Video driver
    OS: Windows 2000
    Description:

Notebooks Intel SpeedStep Application for Windows 2000
  • Corrects the Max Battery issue -- when the number of current states was 1, the applet did not throttle the processor when a load was applied to the system. This fix causes it to throttle as expected.

  • Corrects a very rare case where the applet might not switch the processor to BOP, but would leave the processor state at whatever the BIOS set it to. This could happen when a thermal condition occurred in between the time when the applet loaded and acquired transition control and the time when it actually started to set processor states. For example when the applet started, if theprocessor state was set to 0 but the current number of states was reported as just 1, then the applet might not switch the processor to BOP, but would leave the processor at state 0 all the time.

  • Corrects Japanese InstallShield issue where the text was rotated 90 degrees.

  • Corrects an issue where when the processor was at state 0 (Max Perf), and the currently available states returned by BIOS changed, the applet would not set the processor state to reflect the new Max Performance state. Instead, the processor state remained at state 0. With this fix, the processor state will be set to the new Max Perf state as calculated based on the currently available states reported by BIOS.

  • Corrects an issue with Automatic where when a load was present in the system, the applet set the processor state to 0 (when all the states are available), and if the currently available number of states changed dynamically with the load still present, the applet would not set the processor state to reflect the new Max. Performance state. Instead the processor state would remain at state 0 until the load was removed. With this fix, the processor state will always be within the state boundaries as determined by the currently available states.
