HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series Firmware Update
  • Fingerprint Software Version 3.7:
    * Corrects where it allowed to select alphanumeric characters using the softkey with the "simple 4 digit PIN" option for Password.
    * Corrects the 12 and 24 hours option where it could not be selected in the "Prompt if device unused for" field under Password.
  • Bluetooth Driver Version 1.4.1.58:
    * Corrects problem where system would hang when disconnecting a PAN connection via the Incoming Connection icon.
    * Corrects a problem where the device needed a Normal Reset after being turned off while transferring data via SPP, for example, while connected to a Bluetooth GPS device.
    * Corrects the proxy settings getting erased in the Bluetooth Settings.
    * Corrects a problem when using 'Dial via Bluetooth' which would not accept spaces in the phone number.
  • Corrects an issue where the iPAQ unit does not waking up to perform a scheduled iPAQ Backup.
  • Restore ClearType Tuner that was removed by the previous XIP update (English and German only).

    Installation

    HOW TO USE:

    1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

    2. Establish an Activesync connection between your iPAQ Pocket PC and host PC through either the USB or Serial connection.

    3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 series Firmware Update.


    INSTALLATION NOTES:

    1. Important: Please ensure you have completed the following tasks:

    2. Do not enable the device password feature during the update process.

    3. Do not attempt to turn off or restart the device while the update is
      in progress.

    4. Do not enable “Show information when device is turned on” feature during the update process. To disable, simply click “Owner” on the today screen and uncheck the box at the bottom of the page, then click the “Notes” tab at the bottom of the page and uncheck “Show information when device is turned on” located at the bottom of the page.

    5. After applying a ROM update, do not attempt to restore a backup that was made before the ROM update was installed.

    6. Important: Disable the standby and hibernation modes on your host PC.If standby or hibernation are activated during the upgrade process, a critical error may occur.

    7. Important: Plan for enough time to start and complete the update process.The total time to perform a ROM backup and a ROM update is estimated to be as follows:

      * USB - 5 minutes
      * Serial - 30 minutes

    8. Important: Do not interact with your device or remove it from AC power or the cradle/cable once the hour glass appears on the iPAQ and the actual update has started.

    9. If an error message is displayed during the process, follow any available instructions to correct the condition and start the utility again.

    10. The update process can be performed while connected to a host PC as a Guest or with an established partnership.
