    3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions (This will unpack the WLAN Firmware update file to a directory on your host PC and automatically launch the installation wizard.)

    4. When ActiveSync Add/Remove Programs starts, select Yes to “Install … using the default application install directory.”Select OK when the application downloading is complete.(This will launch the utility on your iPAQ Pocket PC.)

    5. Make sure your iPAQ Pocket PC is connected to AC power and tap the “Start Update” button on the iPAQ.(The current and the new WLAN firmware versions are displayed along with a progress bar.The update takes approximately 1 minute to complete.)

    6. When the WLAN ROM Update completes, tap OK and perform a Normal Reset on the iPAQ, by pressing the reset button on the bottom of the iPAQ for 2 seconds, using the stylus.

    7. After successful completion of the firmware update, you may delete the following if you wish:


      a) The Firmware Update Utility from the iPAQ by going to State->Settings->System tab->Remove Program. Select 'hp WLAN Firmware Update' and tap the Remove button.

    INSTALLATION NOTES:

    1. During the update, the ROM Update Utility will:

    2. Query your device for current ROM image information.
    3. Validate that the new ROM image is compatible with your device.
    4. Allow you to back up your current ROM image.
    5. Automatically place the iPAQ in flash mode.
    6. Update or restore a ROM image on your device.
    7. Require that you press Reset at the end which performs a Full reset to complete the process.
    8. Important: Disable the standby and hibernation modes on your host PC. If standby or hibernation are activated during the upgrade process, a critical error may occur.
    9. Important: Plan for enough time to start and complete the update process.The total time to perform a ROM backup and a ROM update is estimated to be as follows:

      *USB - 20 minutes
      *Serial - 90 minutes
    10. Important: Do not interact with your device or remove it from AC power or the cradle/cable once the status bar appears on the iPAQ and the actual update has started.
    11. If an error message is displayed during the process, follow any available instructions to correct the condition and start the utility again.
    12. The update process can be performed while connected to a host PC as a Guest or with an established partnership.
