iPAQ Pocket PC 2002 End User Update (EUU - Service Pack)
  • Includes all fixes from the previous EUU - Service Pack.
  • Corrects issue where Pocket Internet Explorer stopped responding when attempting to view some secured Web sites.
  • Corrects issue where a PPP LCP renegotiation request caused an unexpected disconnect.
  • Corrects issue where PocketWord and Notes stopped responding after tapping ENTER at the end of a very long string that has no spaces.
  • Corrects issue with Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM) where adding recipients didn't flag an appointment as a meeting.
  • Corrects issue where Microsoft Server ActiveSync could not be used with a user name containing extended characters.

  • For more information about these improvements, see the EUU3_xxx.rtf file contained in the Softpaq.

    Note: 'xxx' stands for the language extentions of English (ENG), French (FRA), German (GER), Italian (ITA), Japanese (JPN), Portuguese (PTB), Spanish (ESP), Chinese-simplified (CHS), and Chinese-traditional (CHT).

  • It is important to stop the ActiveSync connection from your host PC before executing the EUU file on the handheld to prevent possible ROM corruption from occurring.

  • For the H3900 series, this EUU applies to ROM Version 1.00 (non-Bluetooth) and ROM Version 2.00 (Bluetooth) only.

  • For the H3600 series, the 24MCONSUMER.XIP does not apply due to Windows Media Player for Pocket PC not being in ROM.When the update is executed, a message appears displaying:
    "\temp\rom_update\24mconsumer.xip is invalid. It will be deleted. Other updates will continue"

    Installation

    HOW TO USE:

    IMPORTANT: CONNECT TO AC POWER FOR THE UPDATE OPERATION.

    This process involves writing updates to the ROM.If this write operation is interrupted by performing a Normal or Full Reset before it completes Pocket PC 2002 will become unstable and may prevent further connection to a host PC for recovery.The write process of the update takes approximately 13 minutes, displaying a message that it is complete at the conclusion.To help prevent accidental interruptions, AC power is required for the write operation and the power button is disabled during the write process.

    Currently the only method to verify that this update has been installed is to start the update again on the iPAQ and look for the following message to be displayed:“This ROM Update is already installed…”

    Or on the H3600, the message appears differently, like this:“The ROM Update file is invalid…”

    TO PERFORM THE UPDATE:

    1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

    2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 End User Update into a folder.

    3. Read the EUU3_xxx.rtf for instructions on how to install this update.

    4. You may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1 if you wish.
