Installation

PROC?DURE :

1. T?l?chargez le SoftPaq dans un r?pertoire de votre disque dur (REMARQUE : ce r?pertoire ne doit pas contenir de fichier ou de dossier provenant d'une pr?c?dente mise ? niveau de la ROM). Ce fichier t?l?charg? est un ex?cutable auto-extractible dont le nom de fichier est bas? sur le num?ro de SoftPaq ci-dessus.

2. Ex?cutez le fichier t?l?charg? et suivez les instructions qui s'affichent. Une pression sur la barre d'espacement pour confirmer la d?compression des fichiers entra?ne la cr?ation d'un nouveau dossier dans le r?pertoire de t?l?chargement. Tous les fichiers sont d?compress?s dans ce nouveau dossier et l'utilitaire de mise ? niveau de la ROM s'ex?cutent automatiquement.

3. Suivez les instructions affich?es par l'utilitaire de mise ? niveau de la ROM.

4. Si vous le souhaitez, vous pouvez supprimer le fichier autoextractible t?l?charg? ? l'?tape 1.

5. Une fois l'installation termin?e et si vous le souhaitez, vous pouvez supprimer le dossier cr?? ? l'?tape 2.
INSTALLATION NOTES:

1. Pendant la mise ? niveau, l'utilitaire de mise ? niveau de la ROM effectuera les op?rations suivantes :
- Interrogation du Pocket PC pour obtenir les informations sur l'image ROM en cours.
- V?rification de la compatibilit? de la nouvelle image ROM avec votre Pocket PC.
- Proposition de sauvegarder votre image ROM actuelle.
- Mise ? niveau ou restauration de l'image ROM de votre Pocket PC.

2. Important : d?sactivez les modes Standby et Hibernation sur votre PC h?te. Si le mode Standby ou Hibernation est activ? pendant la proc?dure de mise ? niveau, une erreur critique peut se produire.

3. L'utilitaire de mise ? niveau de la ROM n?cessite ActiveSync 3.1 ou une version sup?rieure.

4. Important : n'agissez pas sur votre Pocket PC et ne le d?connectez pas de la station d'accueil ou de son c?ble sauf si vous y ?tes invit?. Pendant la mise ? niveau, votre Pocket PC va ?tre automatiquement r?initialis?.

5. La proc?dure de mise ? niveau peut ?tre ex?cut?e sur un Pocket PC qui se connecte soit sur le PC h?te habituel, soit sur un autre PC en tant qu'invit?.

6. La proc?dure de mise ? niveau n'alt?re pas les donn?es ni les programmes pr?sents dans la m?moire RAM. Par mesure de pr?caution, Compaq conseille de sauvegardervotre Pocket PC avant d'ex?cuter la mise ? niveau de la ROM. Cette sauvegarde ne doit pas ?tre utilis?e si la mise ? niveau de la ROM est un succ?s.

7. Une sauvegarde de Pocket PC correspondant ? une version donn?e de la ROM peut ne pas ?tre compatible avec une nouvelle version de ROM.Aussi, Compaq conseille d'ex?cuter une sauvegarde du Pocket PC directement apr?s une mise ? niveau de la ROM.

8. Si une erreur se produit pendant l'installation de l'utilitaire de mise ? niveau de la ROM, suivez les instructions qui apparaissent dans la bo?te de dialogue indiquant l'erreur.

9. Si vous essayez d'installer ou de restaurer une image ROM incompatible avec votre iPAQ Pocket PC, par exemple l'installation d'une image en fran?ais sur une unit? en langue anglaise, un message d'erreur s'affiche. Vous serez invit? ? revenir en arri?re et ? s?lectionner une autre image ROM.

10. Pour lancer manuellement l'utilitaire de mise ? niveau de la ROM, double-cliquez sur le fichier UpgradeUt.exe.

11. Lorsque la mise ? niveau de la ROM a r?ussi, toutes les attributions mat?rielles aux boutons reviennent ? la valeur par d?faut. Les pr?f?rences personnelles devront ?tre r?affect?es dans Param?tres/Boutons/Boutons du programme.

Installation

VERWENDEN:

2. F?hren Sie die heruntergeladene Datei aus, und folgen Sie den Anleitungen auf demBildschirm. Dr?cken Sie die Leertaste, um zu best?tigen, dass beim Entpacken von Dateien ein neuer Verzeichnisordner im Download-Verzeichnis angelegt wird. Alle Dateien werden in dieses neu erstellte Verzeichnis entpackt, und das ROM Upgrade Utility wird automatisch ausgef?hrt.

3. Folgen Sie den Anleitungen, die vom ROM Upgrade Utility angezeigt werden.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

2. Wichtig: Deaktivieren Sie den Standby- und Tiefschlafmodus auf Ihrem Host-PC. Wenn Standby- oder Tiefschlafmodus w?hrend des Upgrade-Vorgangs eingeleitet werden, kann ein kritischer Fehler auftreten.

3. F?r das ROM Upgrade Utility ist ActiveSync 3.1 oder h?her erforderlich.

4. Wichtig: Greifen Sie nur dann auf Ihr Ger?t zu bzw. trennen Sie es nur dann von Docking Station oder Kabel, wenn Sie dazu aufgefordert werden. W?hrend des Upgrade-Vorgangs wird Ihr Ger?t automatisch zur?ckgesetzt.

5. Der Upgrade-Vorgang kann nur auf einem Ger?t ausgef?hrt werden, das ?ber eine aufgebaute Partnerschaft oder als Gast mit einem Host-PC verbunden ist.

6. Beim Upgrade-Vorgang werden keine Daten oder Programme ge?ndert, die im RAM gespeichert sind. Compaq empfiehlt, dass Sie als Vorsichtsma?nahme eine Sicherungskopie des Ger?ts erstellen, bevor Sie das ROM aktualisieren. Installation

ISTRUZIONI PER L'USO:

1. Scaricare il SoftPaq in una directory sul disco rigido (NOTA: questa directory non deve contenere file o cartelle di precedenti aggiornamenti ROM).Il file scaricato ? un eseguibile auto-scompattante il cui nome file ? basato sul Numero SoftPaq citato sopra.

2. Eseguire il file e attenersi alle istruzioni visualizzate sullo schermo.Premendo "Barra spaziatrice" per confermare lo scompattamento dei file, il sistema crea una nuova cartella nella directory di download. 7. Un backup del palmare per una particolare versione ROM potrebbe non essere compatibile con una nuova versione ROM, per cui Compaq consiglia di effettuare un backup direttamente dopo l'aggiornamento della ROM.

8. Se si verifica un errore durante l'installazione della ROM Upgrade Utility, seguire le istruzioni visualizzare nella finestra di dialogo di errore.

9. Se si tenta di installare o ripristinare un'immagine ROM non compatibile con il Pocket PC iPAQ, ad esempio un'immagine francese su un'unit? con lingua inglese, verr? visualizzato un messaggio di errore. Il sistema richiede di tornare indietro e di selezionare un'altra immagine ROM.

Installation

C?MO USAR:

Installation

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive (NOTE: this directory should not contain any file or folder from any previous ROM Upgrade).The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.Entering "Space Bar" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory folder in the download directory. All files are unpacked into this newly created directory and the ROM Upgrade Utility will execute automatically.

3. Follow the instructions displayed by the ROM Upgrade Utility.

4. You may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1 if you wish.

5. After the installation is completed, you may delete
the directory created in step 2 if you wish.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

1. During the upgrade, the ROM Upgrade Utility will:
- Query your device for current ROM image information.
- Validate that the new ROM image is compatible with your device.
- Allow you to back up your current ROM image.
- Update or restore the ROM image on your device.

2. Important: Disable the standby and hibernation modes on your host PC. If standby or hibernation are activated during the upgrade process, a critical error may occur.

3. The ROM Upgrade Utility requires ActiveSync 3.1 or greater.

4. Important: Do not interact with your device or remove it from the cradle or cable unless instructed to do so. During the upgrade process, your device will be reset automatically.

5. The upgrade process can be performed on a device connecting to a host PC as an established partnership or as a guest.

6. The upgrade process does not alter data or programs stored in RAM. Compaq recommends a device backup before performing a ROM upgrade as a precautionary measure. This backup should not be used after a successful ROM upgrade.

7. A device backup for a particular ROM version may not be compatible with a new ROM version, therefore Compaq recommends performing a device backup directly after a ROM upgrade.

8. If an error occurs during the installation ofthe ROM Upgrade Utility, follow the instructions displayed in the error dialog box.

9. If you try to install or restore a ROM image that is not compatible with your iPAQ Pocket PC, such as installing a French image on an English language unit, you will receive an error message. You will be required to go back and select another ROM image.

10. To launch the ROM Upgrade Utility manually, double-click on the file name UpgradeUt.exe.

11. After a successful ROM Upgrade, all hardware Buttons assignment will be returned to the default setting.Personal preferences will need to be reassigned under Settings/Buttons/Program Buttons.

    This SoftPaq enables the Ipaq to properly identify all IBM Microdrives. Some of the Microdrives built after Jan 2001 would not be properly identified by the Ipaq and the user would be prompted to format the Microdrive.

    Installation

    HOW TO USE:

    1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

    2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Entering "Space Bar" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory folder in the download directory.All files are unpacked into this newly created directory.

    3. After the directory has been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

    4. To install, run the PCMCIA US v165.exe file in the created directory and follow the on screen instruction.Do a normal RESET of your iPAQ Pocket PC after the installation is completed.

    5.After the installation is completed, You may delete the directory created in step 2 if you wish.
